Dr. Stephanie S. Romañach is the Endowed Chair for Ecosystem Science & Modeling at the Harte Research Institute at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. An ecologist specializing in ecological modeling and developing decision support tools, her work advances ecosystem restoration and conservation, particularly in dynamic coastal and wetland systems.
She works closely with decision makers and stakeholders to develop predictive models that inform complex natural resource management decisions. Her research integrates science from fields such as ecology, hydrology, computer science, and social science. Dr. Romañach and her team have developed many predictive ecological models, hydrologic forecasts, and decision support tools in support of complex environmental decision making. She has published over 80 articles and book chapters.
What attracted her to the Harte Research Institute is its commitment to applied science to address pressing challenges in the Gulf, aligning with her expertise in modeling dynamic ecosystems and bridging science with conservation decision making.
