Mintu Chowdhury, Ph.D.
Mintu Chowdhury is a postdoctoral research associate in the Coastal Ecosystem Processes Lab, where he works with HRI Endowed Chair Dr. Michael Wetz. He completed his PhD studies at the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography in Goa, India. His doctoral study focused on upwelling-induced physicochemical changes and their impact on the phytoplankton community in the eastern and central Arabian Sea during the Indian summer monsoon. He also has experience in phytoplankton pigments, coccolithophore studies and microcosm experiments.
At HRI, he works on phytoplankton community studies for various monitoring programs and bio-assay studies. He is interested to learn more about the dynamics of harmful algal blooms using automated, real-time sensor-based instruments.
