A Roadmap for Developing Resilient Oyster Populations
HRI's Coastal Conservation and Restoration lab will work to identify and collect past environmental time series data for Texas estuaries to support bioenergetic model development. They will also gather and assemble experimental oyster data from previous and ongoing projects in Texas to calibrate oyster dynamic energy budget model parameters for Texas oyster populations.
Finally, researchers will coordinate with Texas partners on the ad-hoc advisory group throughout the project duration to ensure that project outcomes explicitly meet Texas oyster resource management needs for conservation, restoration, sustainable wild harvest, and aquaculture development. Project models will explore oyster populations of interest to Texas partners and will be run in locations that they identify as high priority.
